About This Implementation

This Russian transcription app uses the Wiktionary Russian Pronunciation Module to generate phonetic transcriptions for Russian text.

Russian requires stressing to properly determine the pronunciation of vowels. The system uses a comprehensive Wiktionary data dump of words to determine stressing, and based on it generate phonetic transcriptions. When a word is not found in the lexicon, it generates transcriptions for all possible stressing variants.

Dialects Supported

• Default - Standard Russian (Moscow pronunciation) patterns

Transcription Forms

• Phonetic: A detailed, narrow transcription that shows subtle, non-distinctive variations in pronunciation (allophones). It aims to represent how a word is actually said.

Technical Information

This implementation combines the Wiktionary Russian pronunciation module with a comprehensive lexicon extracted from Wiktionary data dumps, providing both high accuracy for common words and broad coverage through rule-based generation, but requires proper stress marking for optimal performance.
